Weapons: Longarms should be period military (carbines, rifles, or muskets). Double-barreled shotguns should not be sawed off. No Hawkins, Zouaves or Henrys. Pistols should be cap-and-ball revolvers and must be holstered. Troopers generally are to carry no more than one pistol. Sabers should be 1840 or 1860 U.S. cavalry sabers or Confederate models. Sabers will only be carried in events which represent early war (pre-1863) battles or at Living Histories, unless orders dictate differently. If portraying Federal Cavalry, sabers will be carried unless told otherwise. Sabers should be worn and not attached to the saddle. Please have sabers in truck/trailer at all other times. Tents: Generally the use of tents is discouraged as we represent a cavalry unit on campaign. Miscellaneous Equipment: All other items must be documented and period correct. A haversack, knife, fork, tin plate, tin cup, canteen, gum blanket, or poncho, wool blanket or period style quilt, powder flask, curry comb, brush, feedbag, ration bags, and spurs are recommended. Food items are to be packed in a period accurate manner. |
